| Description | COMPANY: One of the leading turbine producers in the German wind energy sector with a market share in excess of 10%. Founded in 2001 and listed on the stock exchange just one year later, the company focuses on the development, production, and of multi-megawatt wind turbines. Its product range comprises several types of turbines with rated outputs between 1.5 and 5 megawatts. To date, over 1,400 turbine projects have been successfully completed. THE ROLE: In order to support the growing number projects and thus Project Managers, who are responsible for the ‘post sales’, erection and commissioning phase, the role of Head of Project Management will be developed to cover the responsibility for France and Belgium. At the close of fiscal 2008/9, the position will have 13 direct reports and be responsible for the installation of land-based turbines with a market value in excess of €350 million. The Head of Project Management will be reporting to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for the co-ordination and on-time, on-budget and on-specification completion of new installations, supervising and supporting his PM team. RESPONSIBILITIES: Administration - Verify that the ‘pre-installation’ terms and conditions of each contract have been fulfilled by clients prior to site work - Ensure that there is a high departmental correlation between objectives, priorities and resources to produce efficient and quality projects - Confirm ‘best practice’ is monitored and recorded; conduct ‘post project’ analysis inc. discrepancies between forecasts and actual achievements - Maintain close ties with the team manager for France and guaranty a close and efficient collaboration between both teams - Exchange ideas and experiences with the other Head of Projects - Participate actively to the international heads of projects meetings - Draw up a training schedule and participate in future recruitment Management - Assist each PM to develop a project plan to meet agreed milestones - With the relevant PM, identify any special Risk associated with each installation and make provision to reduce or negate the same - Enhance the claims management process between the company and its clients - Support the Department's staff during the running of each installation project - Monitor project progress through regular reporting - Report to the Project Management Director through direct periodical contacts - Alert PM Director from the company of any specific risk occurring in a project’s life - Maintain a relationship with company's clients and contractors in concert with the needs of each PM - Conduct annual staff assessment and assist staff in their development | ||
| Skills | - A university degree/diploma, preferably in a science-based subject (BAC +5) - At least 10-years’ operational Project Management, combined with 5-years man-management experience - EU citizen or EU work / resident permit required - English and French must be fluent (both written and spoken); a working knowledge of German and/or Dutch/Flemish would be desirable - Excellent communicator with both colleagues and stakeholders - Technically competent and numerate - Computer literate - Conscientious and able to meet deadlines - Strong analytical and administrative skills - Team player able to mediate in a fair and open manner - Logical in thought and action - Sensitive to cultural differences, specifically the intrinsic differences between the Latin and Germanic cultures - Prepared to spend time both ‘behind a desk’ and ‘on site’ - Acceptable to a 50% travel schedule within the region - Available to relocate to Paris | ||
