We offer several work schedules including residential overseas, rotational (28 days on and 28 days off), as well as positions in Houston, Texas. Position Overview Chevron North America Exploration and Production Company, a division of Chevron U.S.A. Inc. is accepting online applications for the position of Deepwater Drilling Operations Engineer located in Houston, Texas. A Drilling Engineer in the Deepwater Well Engineering and Operations group for Chevron North American Upstream is responsible for fit for purpose well designs, AFE generation and risk assessments and probabilistic cost estimates. The scope of operations consists of exploration/appraisal well drilling/testing or deepwater development well drilling and completions. The primary focus will be planning the next well in the rig queue, then serving as the operations engineer for that well during the execution phase of the process. Depending on the needs of the Deepwater (DW) Gulf of Mexico (GOM) Drilling and Completions(D&C) team this position will reside in either the exploration/appraisal team or the Major Capital Projects Team. Major Capital Project (MCP) roles that could be filled are Jack/St. Malo, Tahiti Phase II and Big Foot. MCP positions interface on a daily basis with facilities project personnel, subsurface teams including geologists and reservoir engineers, intervention engineers and completion engineers. Key Job Responsibilities: - Insure accurate pore pressure/fracture gradient analyses are performed. - Well design, AFE costs, tubular and wellhead design. - Assist with procurement. - Coordinate and insure accuracy of directional well plans, drilling fluids design, shallow hazards, in alignment with Single Well CPDEP. - Work with exploration, appraisal well teams, asset teams, major capital project teams to develop fit for purpose exploration and development wells. - Collaborate with the G&G ops team to insure accurate earth model and well designs and that geological and geophysical goals are realistically planned and attainable. - Work with respective rig contractors and third party service contractors as appropriate to achieve well and completion design goals. - Keep up with latest technology applicable to well engineering and operations. - Assist with metrics measurement and application. - Assist in training/mentoring younger employees. - Support superintendent with Plans of Action (POA’s), MOC’s, regulatory issues and other issues that are required to be addressed during the successful execution of a deepwater well. | ||
| Skills | Required Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree (Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical) - 8-10 years Demonstrate experience in well engineering, planning and operations, preferably deepwater, directional drilling, time and cost estimating, writing of drilling and completion programs - Experience with deep high pressure drilling and completion environments - Experience in an offshore or subsea environment - Experience working on or with Floating drilling operations Preferred Qualifications - Ability and desire to develop talent within their work group, business unit and the company. - Possess good organizational, communication and analytical skills. - Experience in an offshore or subsea environment is a plus. - Deepwater experience and/or subsea completion experience is a plus.
