| Description | Our client is one of the largest companies in the Republic of Azerbaijan and is engaged in a wide range of business interests. They are currently involved in a large number of flagship construction projects in Azerbaijan. Its Construction and Development operation is hugely dynamic; having grown to over 400 people and secured ongoing projects in excess of 8.5 million square feet in its first year of trading (2007). These include the $350 million mixed use redevelopment of Port Baku. All of the projects are on land own by the Group, with the majority being self financed. The Role: Design Manager for new build Commercial projects - Management of design aspects at construction stage of large projects, you will be expected to manage the design elements as part of the pre-construction team offering guidance and advice upon buildability issues and management of the design process and external consultants. Specific responsibilities include leadership of the design process, review of subcontractors design responsibilities, advice upon value management and project specifications, maintain design within cost restraints, minimise risk, ensure the design process recognises current legislation, standards and Codes of Practice. Post contract you will act in a project advisory role to the Project team, whilst monitoring performance of design consultants, compliance of subcontractors and variations. Responsibilities include: - Lead the project design team to enable high performance , and specifically: o Ensure that the right skills and competence are available at the right time, in order to meet the demand of the project. o Ensure the design production responds to programme requirements. o Ensure the project is integrated with the operation and effectively handed over. o Ensure basic practices to manage risks and appropriate best practices to create opportunities for performance improvement are applied. o Ensure performance in continuously reviewed and improved, with the aim to eliminate waste and meet project success criteria and targets. | ||
