| Description | The Energy in the built environment department at Ecofys has extensive experience in all major construction sectors, including residential, education, retail, commercial and public buildings. Ecofys is showing the way forward in designing sustainable buildings by using knowledge of policies, regulation & economics, advanced building envelope design, low energy HVAC and renewable energy. Our real estate solutions feature and optimal balance of sustainability, functionality and economical performance. The Challenge The shift from thinking about solutions to implementing solutions is in full swing. Real estate market players are increasingly involving sustainability experts in early stages of their planning process. These experts need to be able to convincingly propose solutions that combine better building characteristics with better building installations performance. This combined effort is often innovative and perceived as complex. The challenge is to make customers feel comfortable with these new solutions. Your job We are currently looking for a talented, enthusiastic and innovative building designer. In an Ecofys project team you’ll be a key conceptual technical designer. You’ll come up with innovative designs that are conceptually challenging but that still have sufficient depth to allow for reliable economic feasibility estimates and that can serve as a starting point for engineers and architects to do work in further detail. In return, we have opportunities to work on some of the largest and most exciting international projects. We currently have a solid portfolio of sustainability projects across a number of European countries. Responsibilities - To play a major role as an innovative designer in the energy in the built environment department of Ecofys. - To provide strong design leadership on building issues. - To assist in developing jobs technically from initial client ideas. - Prepare and take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering and architectural solutions and for detailed design in some specific cases. | ||
| Skills | Qualifications & experience - Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a joint degree in any of these. A relevant post graduate degree would be an advantage. - Post graduate experience of design. - Minimum of 3 years working experience of design in the built environment. - Knowledge in the latest technologies such as energy-saving facades, natural ventilation, solar water heating, wind turbines and photovoltaic cells and technologies. - Awareness of basic Building Physics including ventilation, solar gain control, thermal insulation. - Up to date knowledge and experience in Italian, German or UK planning procedures. - Good computer skills and able to provide drawings in CAD. - Good language skills (at least your mother tongue and fluency in English). - Pro-active, open minded team player and willing to pick up different responsibilities. - Devoted to improve the building’s performance and sustainability. | ||
