Position Overview:

Chevron Energy Technology Company (ETC) is accepting online applications for the position of Next Generation Deployment Earth Scientist located in Houston, Texas.

The Earth Scientist position will participate in Deployment of Next Generation Systems for 3D Seismic Interpretation and Reservoir Modeling as a key initial user and path finder for tools and workflows. The Next Generation Deployment Earth Scientist will work as a member of the Interpretation Products Development and Support Team in the Research & Development (R&D) Unit of the Earth Sciences Department. This position provides an opportunity to explore the extended capabilities provided by Next Generation Systems and to help steer the R&D efforts designed to augment these systems in a way that fills gaps and facilitates deployment. The assignment should last 2-3 years with a subsequent rotation to a Chevron Strategic Business Unit (SBU) or ETC Technical Service Team to act as a local Next Generation Champion and Consultant.

Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

• Develop a fundamental understanding of Next Generation System capabilities.
• Design, test and augment workflows that may combine next Generation Systems with Chevron proprietary tools.
• Keep abreast of developments vendors make to Next Generation Systems.
• Validate, test and/or suggest changes to proprietary R&D Projects that are deployed as part of Next Generation Systems.
• Provide content and input to Next Generation trainers.
• Recommend new workflow capabilities and functionalities to R&D Teams for prototyping
• Work with R&D Teams to progress new tools and capabilities.
• Test and provide feedback on cutting edge plug-ins and tools.
SkillsRequired Qualifications:
In order to be considered for this job, applicants must have:

• A Master's Degree in Geology/Geophysics.
• Experience in Seismic Interpretation and/or Reservoir Modeling.
• Knowledge of workflows and tolls needed for mapping, 3D visualization, framework, modeling, properties modeling, uncertainty and reserve estimates.
• Familiarity with a variety of vendor systems including Gocad, Petrel, Rock & Fluid Canvas, VoxelGeo, Geoprobe, and Views2D.
• Demonstrated passion and leadership in the effective use of new technology and work processes.
