Chevron Global Upstream and Gas is accepting online applications for the position of Earth Scientist – Takula Block, located in Houston, Texas.

Overview:

The Takula Asset reservoirs are being produced through waterflood and primary depletion. This position is responsible for undertaking development geology activities in order to optimize reservoir depletion plans and help generate a rich list of rigwork opportunities for the Takula Upper Vermelha reservoir. A waterflood optimization and realignment study is currently in progress. Several opportunities identified from the study will be the focus of the team in the next few years. Plans include wider deployment of ESP's and evaluation of alternative depletion strategies. This position will be responsible to provide development geology support to the future reservoir management optimization efforts.

This position requires some travel to Angola, West Africa, to interface with the Luanda and Malongo based Asset Team counterparts as well as interact with JV partners of the Cabinda Association.

Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
• Conduct reservoir studies. Undertake Development Geology activities in support of reservoir studies.
• Build reservoir surveillance and integrated reservoir management plans. Provide input in execution of subject plans.
• Participate in wellwork maturation activities. Build a queue of executable wellwork opportunities.
• Participate in knowledge sharing activities both as mentor and mentee, as needed.
SkillsRequired (Basic) Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree in Earth Sciences.
• Willingness and ability to travel to Angola, West Africa.
• Fundamental earth science skill sets.
• Proven track record in the application of Earth Modeling software, including: Gocad/G2 modeling (various workflows, MPS, Evolum) and Landmark (ZMAP, Stratworks, Seisworks) for seismic mapping and well log correlation.
• Good understanding in the application of sequence stratigraphy, reservoir facies analysis, core and well petrophysics, volumetric calculations, risk assessment, production data mapping, etc.
• Good familiarity with CHEARS simulation, Scale-up, History Match and overall integration of static and dynamic reservoir data.
• Broad experience in reservoir management plan optimization and reserves estimation.
• Demonstrated experience in development planning.
• Experience planning monitoring programs, developing infill proposals, and optimizing secondary recovery programs.
• Demonstrated willingness and aptitude to train and mentor others - strong commitment to transfer of knowledge and skills to all employees and government participant/trainees.
• Must be capable of integrating work with all disciplines and contributing to team dynamics.
• Demonstrated ability to work in diverse and dispersed teamwork structures.
• Ability to communicate consistently and effectively, written as well as oral communication.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters Degree in Earth Sciences.
