Chevron North America Exploration and Production is accepting online applications for the position of Development Geologist located in Covington, Louisiana.

Overview:

The Development Geologist is a member of multi-disciplinary team delineating new discoveries and developing existing oil and gas fields in the offshore Gulf of Mexico. Projects require detailed technical work and the ability to document work efficiently and work collaboratively to achieve results. This assignment provides an opportunity to integrate 3D seismic interpretation with extensive well information and production data to identify new drill and workover opportunities. Team members have a unique opportunity to develop skills in business and commercial issues, decision modeling, project management, partner management, evaluation of outside opportunities and negotiations.

Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

• Assimilate data and identify commercial opportunities.
• Generate and mature prospect and play concepts.
• Perform reservoir and risk assessments and assist with decision analysis and economic evaluations.
• Perform UNIX-based 3D interpretations.
• Provide reservoir management - Clastic reservoir mapping, modeling and characterization.
• Conduct volumetric, reserve and risk assessments.
• Complete formation evaluations, as well as planning for and managing reservoir surveillance programs.
• Perform new well, sidetrack and workover planning.
SkillsRequired (Basic) Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Geology or Geophysics.
• Knowledge of Unix-based workstation interpretation systems and applications, especially for 3D seismic interpretation and earth modeling.
• Familiarity with exploration and development geology work processes.
• Understanding of key processes comprising the upstream value chain including leasing, prospect generation and maturation, exploratory drilling, delineation and production.
