Chevron North America Exploration and Production is accepting online applications for the position of Bore Hole Seismic Specialist located in Houston, Texas.

Overview:
This position requires a technical geophysicist with a background in working with Vertical Seismic Profiling (VSP) data who has the desire to design, acquire, perform quality analysis (QA) – quality control (QC) processing, coordinate VSP programs and work with project teams on data integration. The role and responsibility of this position includes the entire VSP Project lifecycle- from pre-acquisition modeling, survey design, field acquisition, processing QC, and dataset integration and interpretation.

Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

Work closely with strategic business units, operating companies, bore hole seismic vendors, and partners.

Travel 25% to 40% of the time to both domestic and international drilling locations to supervise VSP operations.

Hone and integrate structural, stratigraphic, geophysical and log interpretation skills to integrate VSP data with troublesome surface seismic to improve subsurface imaging for successful drilling execution as well as proper resource description.

Develop thorough understanding of deep water well design and drilling operations.

Use advanced visualization tools.

Work and communicate in a multifunctional work group.
SkillsRequired (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics.

Three years experience with VSP design and field acquisition

VSP processing experience

A minimum of 20 years of proven experience in oil and gas exploration and operations.

Proficiency in MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Experience using seismic workstation tools (e.g., SeisWorks, OpenWorks, in addition to Decision Space, VoxelGeo, GeoProbe, or GOCAD as appropriate)

Experience with integrating VSP data with high-quality seismic datasets.
Familiarity with VSP vendor acquisition and processing capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Geophysics

Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.

International Considerations:
Expatriate assignments will be considered.
