Chevron North America Exploration and Production is accepting online applications for the position of Vertical Seismic Profiling (VSP) Quality Control (QC) Processing Specialist located in Houston, Texas. Overview: Chevron is looking for a technical geophysicist with hands-on VSP processing experience to quality control VSP processing at external service providers for Chevron’s worldwide VSP acquisition program. The position is based in Houston with travel to VSP vendors and processing centers located primarily in Houston. Travel to well-site locations is not expected and is not a primary part of this position. This position serves as an exceptional opportunity to have a significant impact at a corporate scale. Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: -Perform pre-acquisition modeling. -Direct and supervise VSP Processing. -Aid the project teams in integration of VSP information into overall project. Work closely with operating companies, worldwide strategic business units, bore hole seismic vendors and partners. | ||
| Skills | Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in GeophysicsMinimum of five years of recent directly related experience in VSP processing. Direct experience with Schlumberger, Read,VSFusion and GXT/ION. Knowledge of drilling processes and terminology. Willingness and ability to work in the office(80 to 90%) or travel to /work in vendor/processor offices(10 to 20%). Demonstrated ability to learn and apply a wide range of leading edge geophysical technologies to improve subsurface understanding and maximize value of oil and grease projects. Experience with 3D interpretation systems, seismic processing systems, ray trace software, excel. Power point, word, etc. Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new software systems. Excellent communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Geophysics. Geology experience, especially subsalt GOM and exposure to other basins around the world. Experience working with multi discipline project teams. A certificate in Helicopter Underwater Egress Training may be required as well as completing a fit for offshore work physical. Gulf Safe certification plus other certification such as Hydrogen Sulfide certification will be required. Note: Ability to swim is not required. The travel requirements may come with additional benefits of foreign service premium and compensation time. | ||
