| Description | Addax Petroleum, founded in 1994, is an international exploration & production company active in the oil and gas Industry. As an independent and rapidly growing company we target world class opportunities in emerging markets offering prolific petroleum basins. We have a strategic focus on Africa and the Middle East and within less than 15 years we have become the largest independent oil producer in Nigeria, and a pioneer investor in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Addax Petroleum has an aggressive exploration programme of over 30 wells in the next 3 years in Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, the Kurdistan region of Iraq, and the Joint Development Zone between Sao Tomé and Nigeria. Since February 2006 Addax Petroleum has been listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange with a secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange in May 2007. We have over 500 employees worldwide. Operations: • Maintain geological and petrophysical data bases consistent, fit-for-purpose (data integrity,maintenance and accessibility) across Addax Petroleum (APS, Operating companies and third parties, as required). Advise on logging suites, coring, testing and core analyses requirements (expl., appr., dev. wells)QC logs and first pass log interpretation while drilling, advise on pressure and sampling points, in conjunction with the reservoir engineer. Studies: • Performs consistent petrophysical interpretations (lithology, phi, So, Sg, net, n/g, EPV, sums and averages), culminating in fully documented petrophysical models which describe accurately the distribution of fluids within reservoirs, for eventual implementation in 3D static modelling and dynamic simulation. Identifies by-passed hydrocarbons and workover opportunities. • Provide petrophysical support to New Ventures, exploration and acreage evaluation, and workover activities, as required. • Contribute to detailed reservoirs and field reviews, and field development plans, as required. Others: • Represent the interests of the Asset in discussions with Third Parties. | ||
| Skills | Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required: • BSc in Petroleum Geology, Physics or in a relevant discipline. • At least 10 years experience in petrophysical interpretation (cased and open hole, clastic and carbonate lithologies and diagenesis, and fractures detection from logs), preferably with an Operating oil company. • Understanding of fluid properties and dynamics, fractures and faults systems, clastic and carbonate sedimentology and diagenesis, risk and uncertainty analysis and volumetric estimates. • Fully conversant in the use of G&G databases, petrophysical interpretation PC-based software (e.g. Prism Geographix,). Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Visual Basic code programming. Additional Attributes: • Ability to work well in a team and leadership potential • Good communication skills in English – both written and verbal • Willingness to travel overseas and to accept short work assignments with Addax Petroleum Operating Companies in West Africa and the Middle East It would be advantageous to have the following additional experience and skills: • Operational experience in West Africa and/or Middle-East, preferably with an Operating oil company. • Operational experience as a wellsite petroleum engineer, preferably with an Operating oil company. • Basic skills in the use of 3D geological modelling software (e.g. Petrel). | ||
