| Description | Our Client is actively seeking to expand the portfolio of material prospects in new basins or plays through license round acquisition, JV opportunities and focused farm-in opportunities. The candidate for this position will be responsible, in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, for screening, prioritizing and evaluating those opportunities. Final deliverables will be an economic evaluation as basis for bid with high quality supporting technical/business evaluations. POSITION SUMMARY: This position will provide global reservoir engineering support of studies being conducted by the Client E&P Value Chain, including Business Development, on unconventional reservoirs. The position requires experience in unconventional reservoirs, such as coal bed methane, heavy oil, shale gas, resource plays, and naturally fractured reservoirs. Normal job duties will be to provide estimates of hydrocarbon-in-place, rates and recoveries, and economic evaluations in support of acquisitions and trades. A good understanding of conventional reservoir engineering, reservoir fluid and rock characterization, reservoir simulation, reserves estimation and classification, and uncertainty analysis will be needed. ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES: • Generate Low-BTE-High estimates of original hydrocarbon-in-place, production rates, and recoveries for unconventional reservoirs • Provide economic analyses of acquisition and trade opportunities for unconventional reservoirs • Provide overall technical consultation to Business Developments on opportunities as they arise this may include data room visits, QC and analysis of data, and fit-for-purpose reservoir performance assessments • Participate in Peer Assists and Peer Reviews for Development Projects and Production FDP efforts to ensure fit-for-purpose reservoir engineering methodology, to facilitate quality assurance in subsurface technical work, and to provide technical direction to subsurface teams in assessing reservoir performance and field development planning • Provide training and mentoring to reservoir engineers in unconventional reservoirs | ||
| Skills | SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: • 20+ years of reservoir engineering experience with heavy emphasis on unconventional reservoirs • Experience with subsurface uncertainty analysis • Extensive understanding of reservoir engineering principles, production forecasting, reserves estimation and classification, fluid and rock characterization, and economic analysis • Functional understanding of geology, geophysics, petrophysics, and reservoir characterization issues and how they relate to reservoir performance and development planning • Applied reservoir simulation experience will be very helpful • Effective oral and written communication skills, particularly for technical presentations and training • Self-motivated to learn and adopt new technologies, impart knowledge to others, and coordinate technology deployment with other EPT teams • Proactive analytical skills with attention to details and process improvements EDUCATION/TRAINING: Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering or closely-related discipline | ||
