DescriptionMain Job Function:
To ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of Telecommunication systems. To ensure, in accordance with the general instructions and guidelines received from his functional head, the timely and economic maintenance of the District telecommunication systems with Company personnel or contractor service. To assist his superiors in programming expansions or modifications of the existing system.

Key Responsibility Areas:
• Evaluates the need for service, equipment and materials; issues requisitions and assists his superior in contracts negotiations.
• Ensures, in the District, an efficient operation and maintenance of the Micro-wave and Multi-channel, VHF/UHF and Telex systems, planning periodic checks on the equipment or providing for their prompt repair on request of the users; to ensure the installation or removal of equipment in accordance with operational needs.
• Ensures the installation and maintenance of a telephone network and other telecommunications equipment in the Base, Company houses and field locations; obtains licences for the Company’s telecommunication equipment in the District.
• Ensures the efficiency of the works carried out and their compliance with budgeted costs; ensures that contractors’ performances are in accordance with the contractual terms. Keeps abreast of developments in telecommunication equipment systems and assists his superiors in ensuring the appraisal, training and professional development of his personnel in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
SkillsCandidate Specifications:
o Electronic or Telecommunication Engineer
o Extensive relevant experience preferably in the Oil Industry
o English fluently spoken and written
o A good technical and administrative knowledge of the overall operations of the Company is necessary.
o Knowledge of existing and new technologies in the telecommunications field and ability to identify and plan for the upgrading of existing systems is essential
