Position Overview:
Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and Production Company, a division of Chevron U.S.A. Inc. is accepting online applications for the position of Senior Drilling Engineer, Deepwater Exploration located Perth, Australia.

The Senior Drilling Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating and supporting the drilling and completion of land and deepwater exploration and development well work in a safe, legal and environmentally responsible and effective manner. This position will also manage assigned service/material contracts to provide best value to Chevron drilling operations.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Perform detailed drilling engineering, well planning and design work for well construction projects.
• Ensure compliance with Chevron technical standards for work completed.
• Lead other departments in developing specific well plans.
• Lead internal development and review of well designs for assigned wells.
• Lead the risk analysis of assigned drilling projects.
• Use benchmarking and metric systems for well construction operations.
• Provide daily support to assigned drilling project.
• Monitor daily morning report and facilitates data error corrections.
• Evaluate activities against pre-established goals.
• Make recommendations based on evaluations.
• Prepare well reconciliations and post-well look backs.
• Manage assigned contracts as per Chevron expectations to meet project requirements.
• Ensure supplier selection process is fully transparent and auditable with selection criteria aligned with Chevron's operational excellence and business metrics.
• Responsible for fit for purpose well designs, Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) generation, risk assessments and probabilistic cost estimates.
• Perform rig site supervision as required and accountable for knowing and complying with all applicable regulations and company Health, Environment, and Safety (HES) training requirement and policies.
• Evaluate and develop new technologies as needed.
Skills Required (Basic) Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• A minimum of 10 or more years of experience in over-water, preferably deepwater, well engineering and operations is required.
• Experience working on/with floating drilling operations.
• Experience in leading quality risk assessments, ability to develop detailed cost estimations and demonstrated competency in writing detailed drilling procedures.
• Strong geological and geophysical knowledge, especially with regard to shallow hazards analysis techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Robust contractor management skills are a plus.
• Ability to develop pore pressure/frac gradient curves is a plus.
RemarksRelocation may be considered within Chevron parameters. This is a safety sensitive position.

International Considerations:
An expatriate assignment will be considered.
