Description POSITION SUMMARY
This position will provide reservoir engineering support to prospect studies being conducted by Client’s Exploration. The position requires experience in preparing reservoir performance forecasts (rates and recoveries) for exploration prospects using various reservoir engineering methods. This position will also require the generation of conceptual field development plans, including recovery process, occasional reservoir simulation, data acquisition planning, and integration of costs and drilling schedules for economic assessments using PEEP. The reservoir engineer will need to understand reservoir characterization fundamentals for clastic and carbonate reservoir lithologies, petrophysics and PVT principles, reservoir simulation concepts, and pressure transient analysis applications. The reservoir engineer will work with the South America and West Africa Exploration team in preparing and presenting decision support packages for sanctioning of exploration prospect drilling.
Skills ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES
o Apply Quality Control and review of PVT and core analysis reports
o Identify subsurface uncertainties working with Exploration G&G teams
o Estimate ranges for subsurface uncertainties using analogues and expert opinion
o Prepare Low-BTE-High reservoir rate and recovery estimates using classical reservoir engineering methods and analogues
o Assist with the design and application of conceptual simulation models using maps and cross-sections that represent the range of stratigraphy and hydrocarbons-in-place as provided by G&G team members
o Assist EPT specialists with the analysis of conceptual simulation model results to develop technically rigorous Low-BTE-High well and reservoir performance estimates
o Prepare and apply various spreadsheet forecasting tools to optimize full-field development planning over the range of geologic descriptions (numbers and locations of development wells, drilling schedule, etc.)
o Gather and integrate CapEx and OpEx estimates into economic analysis using PEEP
o Assist with generation of data acquisition planning for exploration wells
o Assist with preparation and presentation of decision support packages required for sanctioning of exploration prospect drilling
o Work with partners and regulatory agencies to gain alignment on well locations, data acquisition plans, and future forward planning for Exploration prospects

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
o 5-12 years of conventional reservoir engineering methods for estimating rate and recovery from oil and gas reservoir systems
o Familiarity with reservoir simulation principles to review reservoir performance estimates prepared by EPT specialists
o Experience with analysis of PVT reports, PKS and SCAL reports, and DST results
o Basic knowledge of data acquisition programs
o Demonstrated ability to work with earth scientists and petrophysicists in assessing subsurface hydrocarbons-in-place, production/injection rates, and hydrocarbon recovery.
o Good understanding of reservoir engineering principles, production forecasting, and facilities/well modeling.
o Functional understanding of geology, geophysics, petrophysics, and reservoir characterization issues and how they relate to reservoir performance and development planning.
o Effective oral and written communication skills, particularly for technical presentations.
o Self-motivated to learn and adopt new methods, impart knowledge to others, and coordinate efforts with Exploration and EPT teams.
o Proactive analytical skills with attention to details and process improvements.
