| Description | A Reputed Oil and Gas Company is looking out for a Senior Electrical Technician for their operations in UAE. Job purpose : To carry out electrical work in the plant covering installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment to ensure integrity and safety in their operation. Key responsibilities : • Review maintenance requirements on a regular basis and plan work programmes to meet completion deadlines. • Maintain and adjust electrical supply and plant equipment aiming at optimising operational efficiency and minimising energy consumption and environmental emissions. • Locate and diagnose faults on electrical equipment and systems which may involve inter-related circuits or complex interlocking. • Install electrical equipment related to supply, distribution and production such as generators, transformers, switchboards etc. and monitor these to ensure safe and reliable working. • Implement effective equipment maintenance procedures as per relevant rules, regulations and industry best practices so as to facilitate maximum reliability, availability and safety for the company's plant, field and storage/loading facilities. • Design and install equipment (and any modifications) for use in hazardous and non-hazardous locations, at the same time ensuring conformance to all relevant standards. • Remain abreast with latest regulations, standards and good working practices within the industry. • Provide technical expertise to ensure that all equipment/material purchases meet with actual job requirements and necessary standards. • Read drawings and parts lists to develop bills of material for work projects. • Develop maintenance procedures and job scopes for inclusion in computerized maintenance system. • Train and guide subordinates by carrying out regular on the job training/re-training. • Supervise permanent and temporary contract labour so as to ensure safe and effective implementation of daily duties. • Contribute to company's continuous improvement in HSE performance by ensuring safety and environmental standards are maintained within the workplace, including the prompt reporting of any safety or environmental hazards or potential safety or environmental hazards identified. | ||
| Skills | Qualifications Higher National Certificate in Electrical Engineering with 5 years post certificate experience in oil/gas industry. Alternatively, electrical apprenticeship with 10 to 15 years experience in similar industry and 5 years experience in a senior electrical position. ADDITIONAL QUALITATIVE DATA: • Available on a 24-hour call out basis for emergency work related problems. • Be knowledgeable of, and effective in, all areas of electrical engineering with respect to the hazardous environment in which duties are performed. • Liaise with personnel outside the company's environment to ensure that all external influences adhere to company's specified standards and requirements. • High degree of motivation and autonomy required as jobholder is expected to work with minimum supervision. • Familiar with permit to work systems. | ||
