| Description | Position Summary: The Principal Deepwater Riser & Pipeline Engineer is a key position within BG Group's Central Engineering Function. This position is part of the portfolio growth into deepwater field development in for example Brazil, China and Nigeria. The position is responsible for: - Providing pre-sanction and post-sanction deepwater engineering support to BG Asset, Exploration, and New Business groups for project development. - Ensuring technical decisions are inline with best practice and meet relevant Standards and Guidelines. Key Accountabilities: - Provide overall technical leadership, coordination and accountability for deepwater riser and pipeline design. - The key segments will be Deepwater Flexible and SCR Risers, Long distance transmission pipelines for oil and gas services, Large diameter crude oil loading lines, Deepwater high pressure flowlines and Insulated flowlines for high temperature and corrosive fluid transport. - Progress projects through Create, Assess, Select, Define, Execute and Operate project phases. - Lead PEER assists, PEER Reviews and Technical Assurance reviews to ensure compliance with the BG Value. Assurance Framework and approvals procedures. - Lead the development and transfer of best practice corporate guidelines, processes and standards. - Work with project and commercial teams to develop contracting and procurement strategies and negotiation strategies. - Manage technical interface issues between the subsea, facilities, and materials & corrosion engineering disciplines to ensure that consistent system functionalities are employed across the project; - Work with integrated deepwater project teams to design and conceptualise host, mooring systems and components in support of system selection for deepwater field developments. This includes preparing cost and schedule estimates in line with project maturity. - Develop BG Standards and Guidelines for Deepwater Risers/Pipelines. - Ensure that the appropriate BG and industry technical standards have been identified and are being followed. - Manage the consultants working in his/her area of responsibility to ensure that they are working to the appropriate level of efficiency and within the allocated budget; - Define the deepwater riser/pipeline requirements for the Company Technology Programme - Participate in the coaching and development of staff to build technical capacity and capability. | ||
| Skills | Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attributes The Deepwater Riser and Pipeline Engineer requires the following: - BSc or higher in relevant Engineering discipline and a Chartered Engineer. - Significant experience of feasibility, concept selection, FEED and detailed design for engineering projects. - Significant recent experience of deepwater and Floating system developments. - Ability to interface across a wide range of disciplines including petroleum engineering, well engineering, subsea, operations, commercial and economics; - Breadth and depth of design development from Create to Execute needed to enable quality control of contractor technical work, ensuring appropriate techniques and standards are applied and opportunities for technical and business improvement realised. - Strong and effective written and oral communication skills, supported by interpersonal skills. - Ability to challenge others in a constructive manner and negotiate with internal peers and partner’s representatives to influence decisions or ways of working. - An ability to work independently with minimal supervision. | ||
| Remarks | Standard working hours apply. Based at BG HQ at Thames Valley Park (TVP) in Reading – requirement to travel on an occasional basis to support assets / projects.
