| Description | Specific Position Responsibilities: (apart from the type position) The Offshore Drilling Engineer will be a senior representative of the company and will coordinate the planning and execution of all drilling, completion, and testing operations assigned to his project teams in collaboration with the Drilling Engineering Manager and Drilling Superintendent. He/she will be responsible for ensuring the correct and safe implementation of all operations procedures. Specific duties will include: Primary Duties: • Lead the Drilling Engineering Team in the preparation of drilling programs. • Coordinate well planning and execution with company’s sub-surface personnel. • Optimization drilling programs, providing engineering support to resolve operational issues as they arise. • Responsible for the application of the safety and environmental regulations and procedures. • Responsible for ensuring that all permits are obtained prior to commencing any well operations. • Provide engineering support for all company drilling related operational procedures on a daily basis to ensure smooth, efficient, cost effective, safe and environmentally responsible operations are maintained. • Advise on-site rig supervisors on non-routine procedures and instruct them in emergency situations. • Direct and organize, in emergency situations, the necessary means to safeguard personnel, equipment, the environment, and the wellbore, according to existing plans. • Ensure that the on-site rig supervisor’s material and equipment orders are suitable for the intended application and drilling conditions. • Administer the drilling services contracts and manage relationships with service providers. • Optimization of the well construction process and ensuring that lessons learned are circulated back into subsequent well construction activities. • Fulfill the reporting needs to both internally and externally to governmental authorities, partners, etc. | ||
| Skills | Required Skills/Experience: • Recognized degree in Engineering, preferable advanced, and at least 15 years experience in Offshore Drilling and Completions Engineering/Operations and/or Management. • Preferred candidate will have at least seven years experience in international deepwater drilling, completion and well testing operations. • Well versed in modern pore pressure prediction, casing design and performance optimization. • Previous experience with a major would be desired. Languages: • English language skills, Spanish would be advantageous. | ||
