| Description | Basic Function: Plans the operation of the authorised drilling programme, scheduling personnel, materials & equipment to ensure all rigs are able to carry out their activities. Supervises the field operation to ensure maximum usage of drilling rigs in relation to the drilling programme. Function & Responsibilities: 1. Programmes & co-ordinates all aspects of the drilling, workover & completion field oparations including rig, logistic & service company activities. 2. Supervises all Field Drilling Personnel in the performance of their duties. 3. Prepares manning requirements, leave schedules, performance evaluating, salary review & other personnel related programes. 4. Establish sound operating practice & procedures to ensure safe, efficient operations. 5. Responsible for well record data reporting. 6. Monitors rig performance and related service companies to ensure contract conformance & economical operation. 7. Participate in contract negotiations for rigs related services. 8. Co-ordinate engineering planes & programmes with field operations. 9.Review programme on site with craftsman trainees as part of training to ensure craftsman understand the intent & procedures. 10. Conduct half-day training session on practical drilling techniques with Asst. Drilling Supervisor not less than one every two weeks. Independence of Operation: Requires a high degree of analytical judgement in the planning & execution of drilling programmes. Must posses the capability for making sound decisions with significant cost implication to the company. Supervision is extremely general & activities are governed by broad management directives. | ||
| Skills | University degree coupled with extensive technical training in drilling practices. Requires a minimum of 13 years diversified experience in exploratory & production drilling practices with the last 3 years in a supervisory capacity over representative drilling operations. | ||
