| Description | POSITION SUMMARY: This position will provide global reservoir engineering expertise in Pressure Transient Analysis (PTA) to support studies being conducted by Exploration, Development Projects, and Production. The position requires extensive experience in PTA theory and applications. A practical knowledge of reservoir characterization, fluid and petrophysics, classical reservoir engineering methods, and reservoir simulation are also desired. Most time will be spent on designing and planning well tests, providing occasional on-site test supervision, PTA data quality control and formatting, and performing integrated PTA analysis. Some time will be required for mentoring and conducting in-house training. ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES: • Design and plan well tests to ensure data needs and analysis objectives are met • Provide occasional on-site well testing support on critical projects (Exploration and Development Projects) • Provide integrated analyses of PTA data to support reservoir characterization and evaluation work being conducted by project and asset teams • Provide mentoring of less-experienced reservoir engineers on PTA methods and applications • Develop and conduct in-house technical courses on PTA applications and theory • Monitor technology developments in industry and academia that have potential applications for adding value to the E&P Value Chain • Participate in Planning Assists and Peer Reviews with, or in lieu of, the Chief Reservoir Engineer for Development Projects and production FDP efforts to ensure fit-for-purpose reservoir engineering methodology and appropriate technical interpretations • Assist Chief Reservoir Engineer with recruiting efforts of external reservoir engineering candidates (resume review, HR coordination, interviews, etc.) • Participate in short-term technical studies requiring rapid cycle-time to facilitate urgent business decisions (acquisitions, divestitures, etc.) • Testing, evaluating, and supporting software applications, existing and new | ||
| Skills | SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: • 20+ years of reservoir engineering experience with heavy emphasis on pressure transient analysis • Familiarity will reservoir simulation for single-well modeling of well tests • Demonstrated ability to mentor reservoir engineers and conduct technical courses to foster technical growth and deploy Best Practices • Strong understanding of reservoir engineering principles, production forecasting, reserves estimation and classification, fluid and rock characterization, and economic analysis • Functional understanding of geology, geophysics, petrophysics, and reservoir characterization issues and how they relate to reservoir performance and development planning • Effective oral and written communication skills, particularly for technical presentations and training • Self-motivated to learn and adopt new technologies, impart knowledge to others, and coordinate technology deployment with other EPT teams • Proactive analytical skills with attention to details and process improvements. SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS: • Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and EXCEL • Sapphire or PanSys • Other PTA software for special cases (fractured reservoirs, multi-phase flow, etc.) • Eclipse • Prosper, VFP, or WEM • PVTSIM or PVTi EDUCATION/TRAINING: Masters of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering or closely-related discipline | ||
