| Description | Basic Function: Co-ordinates the field operation of all drilling rigs in his assigned area engaged in Exploration development & workover activities. Ensure conformance with safe drilling practices & procedures & the Company's Drilling Programme. Function & Responsibilities: 1. Supervises the operation of assigned drilling rigs, ensuring personnel & equipment are scheduled for the efficient running of the rigs. 2. Reviews daily drilling reports from previous day & plans the day's activities ensuring rigs are serviced with materials & supplies. 3. Interprets technical data on each rig's activities (log perforations etc) to ensure actual drilling conditions are those expected from Geological/Geophysical/Engineering studies. Reports variances & any problems encountered which could mean a change to the drilling programme, eg. piping to be used & mud weight in hole. 4. Gives technical advice & guidance to Drilling Foreman on problems encountered in daily operations. Directs remedial action on such problems as loss off circulation in the hole, bits casing & fishing tools to be used. 5. Prepare reports & maintains appropriate records pertaining to the operating costs & technical history of wells being drilled. | ||
| Skills | B.Sc Degree in Drilling Engineering coupled with 5 years experience or Technical school graduate coupled with advance technical training in drilling techniques. Must possess a minimum of 10 years experience in oilfield drilling practices. Each 5 years of diversified experience in Exploratory & production drilling practices should be evaluated as equivalent of 1 year university training. | ||
| Remarks | Must exercise a high degree of analytical judgement in the planning & execution of drilling programmes. Must possess the ability to make sound technical decisions with substantial cost implications. Function under general supervision & guidance from Drilling Superintendents. | ||
