| Description | Basic Function: Organises, supervises & participates in the installation, maintenance overhaul & repair of all electrical systems & equipment associated with the Company's. Function & Responsibilities: 1. The organisation, disposition & control of manpower, equipment & facilities assigned to the electrical section. 2. Is responsible for the observance of safe work practices within the field & workshop areas & ensures that applicable safety procedures & regulations are observed by the personnel under his jurisdiction. 3. Ensures that all installation & repair work is carried out the applicable codes of practice & standards & that the personnel under his command are aware of such standards. 4. Constantly reviews installed systems & equipment to ensure safe & correct operation. 5. Initiates remedial action where required & makes suggestions regarding modifications or replacement of existing equipment or installations. 6. Undertakes or directs others in the fault finding, maintenance, overhaul, repair & testing of a wide variety of electrical & electronic equipment & systems. This includes, but is not limited to, large & small power generation units, high voltage transmission systems (34.5 & 69 KV) high, medium & low voltage distribution systems & their associated switchgear. Power transformers, control equipment & protection devices. A large number & variety of motor drives, including very high horse power units. Control & monitoring systems, including sophisticated electronic equipment. UPS systems & airfield lighting systems. Much of this equipment is installed in classified areas of the plant. 7. Liaises with members of the electrical group in order to solve complex problems & when necessary will initiate assistance from other sections or supervisory staff. 8. Co-ordinates other groups leaders within the maintenance department on projects requiring multi-discipline personnel. Liaises with other departments, e.g. safety, engineering, general maintenance, production, etc. to ensure activities are carried out correctly & efficiently. 9. Reviews ongoing or future work to be carried out by the electrical section & maintains up-to-date records & project files. 10. Maintains accurate files records on all systems & equipment pertaining to the instrumentation group. Has a specific duty to ensure the update of all drawings relevant to the plant electrical system whenever modifications or installations are carried out. 11. Organises efficient remedial action to correct electrical malfunction or failures on a 24 hour basis. 12. Analyses or diagnoses repetitive malfunctions & makes recommendations regarding corrective action. 13. Co-ordinates the training of local craftsmen & monitors progress. Advises training group of section or individual requirements. 14. Works closely with Maintenance Planning group & advises on preventive maintenance procedures & compilation of equipment data. 15 Has firm knowledge of material procurement & warehousing technique. 16. Prepares equipment & spare part requisitions. Advises on stock level requirements. 17. Is responsible for all routine administration duties relating to the operation of the electrical section, this includes the preparation of daily & monthly reports, time sheets, etc. 18. Must be literate & numerate to a high degree & be capable of compiling detailed technical reports when required. 19. Must be aware of proper man-management techniques in order to motivate & control a multi-national work force to the Company's advantage. | ||
| Skills | B.Sc. Degree in electrical engineering with minimum 5 years experince, or technical graduate or equivalent with further technical & academic training. Minimum of 12 years relevant experience in electrical discipline. | ||
