| Description | Basic Function: Supervises employees engaged in the repair & maintenance of fixed facilities, office buildings, workshop, roads, pipeline repairs, plant turnaround requirements & marine equipment repairs, etc. Function & Responsibilities: 1. Participates with Maintenance Supervisor or Production Unit Supervisor in daily planning & execution of necessary routine functions to be carried out. 2. Ensures the proper installation of all new equipment. 3. Supervises the assigning of various tradesmen to their allocated work, i.e. welders, pipefitters, carpenters, masons, plumbers & labourers. 4. Maintains records for all personnel associated with his department. 5. Assists his superior in repairing & ordering materials & tools used by his Department. 6. Supervises contract personnel contracted for specific tasks. 7. Ensures that all personnel performing functions such as pipeline welding are working to class specification standards. 8. Ensures materials used for fabrication, pipework repairs etc. are to correct class specification standards. 9. Obtains all necessary cold/hot work permits & satisfies himself as to safe work conditions in all respective work areas. 10. Ensures that all safety & fire regulations are observed by tradesmen. 11. Responsible for ensuring consumable type construction material is ordered to maintain daily construction activities of the facility. | ||
| Skills | B.Sc. Degree in Engineering with 5 years experience or Technical School diploma with extensive technical training in engineering. Requires a minimum of 12 years experience in general heavy maintenance. | ||
| Remarks | Independence of Operation: A highly skilled technical specialist in construction & fabrication work is required to exercise a high degree of professional judgement & decisions relating to general maintenance problems. | ||
