Position Overview:
Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and Production Company, a division of Chevron U.S.A. Inc. is accepting online applications for the position of Drill Site Manager located in Bangkok, Thailand.

Drilling Operations in the Gulf of Thailand are very fast paced. The Drill Site Manager will be responsible for 5-10 active wells working at one time, due to batch drilling operations. The wells are directionally very complex and noted for extreme down hole temperatures. This position will be responsible for incident free operations and thus have a significant interface responsibility with the Drilling Contractor and their entire onsite workforce.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Daily Rig Operations
• Provide first line supervision for all rig operations.
• Ensure operations are conducted in accordance with sound engineering practices and in compliance with all environmental and safety laws and regulations.
• Develop and promote safety leadership among contractor and service company personnel.
• Develop rig site specific procedures, which expand on the level of detail provided for in the drilling programs, and develop rig site daily action plans and contingency plans.
• Review all well procedures with contractor personnel.
• Plan and supervise the timely arrival of personnel, materials, and equipment as required at the rig to eliminate down time.
• Supervise difficult and hazardous operations with minimal direct supervision.

Communications:
• Manage all levels of communication during expected or encountered complex or critical operations.
• Coordinate with other rigs to maximize overall logistics efficiency.
• Advise Drilling Superintendent of rig site operations on a daily basis.
• Maintain good relationships with drilling contractor and service provider personnel.
• Build a team concept within the group.

Safety and Environmental:
• Ensure that all rig activities are conducted in accordance with contract terms and conditions, utilizing proper operating procedures and techniques for safe and environmentally sound operations.
• Promote and ensure compliance with Corporate Environmental, Safety, Fire & Health policies and standards throughout the entire drilling operation, including drilling contractors and service companies.

Manages Resources:
• Effectively utilize multitude of service company and drilling contractor resources available for support.
• Ensure contract compliance among support groups in terms of safety, equipment availability and national training processes.
• Implement changes as necessary for optimum efficiency and economics. Recommend innovative ideas and solutions to economically achieve objectives.

Feasibility and Risk Analysis:
• Review on-going operations daily and advises Senior Drilling Superintendent and other departments of pending risks associated with ever changing job scopes.
• Analyze feasibility of work request and communicate with all departments regarding risk factors to consider.
• Initiate meetings and discussions to address job scope changes that will result in unforeseen risks.

Mentoring/Coaching:
• Counsel personnel with respect to performance planning and support existing training programs.
• Provide feedback to personnel / supervisors for continuous employee development.
• Effectively delegate for employee growth and development.
• Counsel all operations drilling personnel with respect to performance planning on interim and annual basis.
• Monitors performance of numerous contractor personnel and equipment.

Data Management:
• Ensure all data collected at the well site is captured in the correct form and is transmitted to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Work with the project engineer to Quality Assistance/ Quality Control the WellView database to ensure accuracy.
SkillsRequired (Basic) Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of related oil and gas drilling experience required.
• International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) WellCap certification required.
• Must be willing to work a rotational schedule.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Offshore experience preferred.

This is a safety sensitive position.
