DescriptionThe objective of the SRPS Project Development is to commercialise Santos’ eastern Australian gas reserves through development, either solely or in partnership, a number of nominally 400-500 MW capacity, gas fired combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power generation facilities. The Shaw River Power Station (SRPS) is the initial project and is located in Western Victoria.

The Project Accountant, reporting to the Project Leader Controls, is responsible for all accounting functions and assistance with cost controlling and reporting.

Responsible for administration of the project accounting system, covering:
• Establishment and maintenance of a project financial control systems (in conjunction with other Project Development activities,);
• processing, reviewing and auditing of financial transactions;
• preparation of project cost reports including analysis of trends;
• preparation of budget documentation for Management approval; and regular project reporting.

Key Accountabilities:

Environment, Health and Safety:
• Actively support Santos’ commitment to Environment, Health and Safety including:
- Adopting and promoting personal work practices and procedures in accordance with Santos Environment, Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) standards.\
• Specific environmental, health and safety responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Preparation of regular project EHS reports for Project Management, including statistical analysis.
- Participate in safety audits as requested as the project financial controller or accountant.
- Continuously communicating to contractors and suppliers Santos’ expectations for EHS.
- Ensuring contractor and suppliers EHS management systems meet the intent of Santos’ requirements.

Project Financial Control and Accountant:
• Act as the Owner’s project accountant and financial controller specialist ensuring consistency with Santos’ systems, procedures, policies and Code of Conduct in conduct of the Project’s expenditure, budgets, financing and EPC transactions.
• Administrate the Project’s accounting systems including maintenance of a project financial control system being consistent with the Development Projects approach and systems in Oracle 11i.
• Process, review and audit financial transactions in respect of the Project.
• Preparation of financial reports for project activities, including the monitoring and accounting for expenditures, including variance analysis and investigations.
• Prepare cost forecasts and cash calls should a joint venture partner structure evolve.
• Prepare budgets for consideration and report regularly on cost performance and outlooks associated with project execution.
• Participate in development of systems and procedures with the PMO and Santos Finance functions in pursuit of the Project’s and Santos’ requirements.
• Ensure that the accounting administration functions add value to Santos’ business activities including cost control, variations, and dispute resolution are undertaken in accordance with Santos’ procedures and DOA requirements.
• As part of an integrated Santos and contractor project delivery team, ensure project accounting and financial control activities deliver the required Project outcomes as defined in project strategic and definition objectives in pursuit of the desired business case.
• Build relationships with consultants, service providers, advisers, suppliers and contractors in respect of project accounting practices.
• Work across Santos’ structure of the business along with contractors and suppliers to ensure project requirements are achieved.

SkillsEssential Qualifications:
• Commerce, Business, Accounting or Economics Bachelor Degree or better.
Eligible for recognised professional membership in core competency to “Chartered” status or equivalent experience with preference of either CPA, CA or equivalent.

Required Experience:
• Comprehensive working knowledge of Oracle financials.
• Strong technical knowledge of project accounting processes.
• Major capital reporting experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point.
• Demonstrable transaction experience in execution of major projects financial controls such as for EPC projects.
• High level of experience in Oracle 11i, including Oracle Projects Module.
• Minimum 8 years experience as an Accountant, preferably with heavy industry, power generation, resources or oil and gas industry experience.
• Exposure/experience in capital expenditure in the oil and gas or energy resources sectors.
