Description of Chief Process Engineer - Global Engineering and Projects

Maersk Oil is in the process of adjusting the organisation in order to prepare for future growth.

The new Corporate Technology and Projects (CTP) department will be responsible for field development activities and for building and maintaining Maersk Oil's technological excellence within petroleum engineering, drilling, engineering and project management disciplines.

The new Global Engineering and Projects department in CTP, will be responsible for the development of safe, environmentally sound and operationally effective oil and gas production facilities and functionally for the engineering and project management disciplines.

The position:
Global Engineering and Projects is looking to fill a position as chief process engineer with a dual role as functional discipline head and process engineering discipline support during the maturation end execution of projects.

The successful candidate will be working in the Engineering Design and Standards department within Global Engineering and Projects, reporting to the Head of Engineering Design and Standards.

Key Roles and Responsibilities-
There will be two main areas of responsibilities Functional and Project related:

Functional Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and direction to the companywide process engineering community
• Agree and define, with the discipline community, a set of corporate standards and guidelines to provide a basis for assuring the technical quality of deliverables
• Ensure that these standards and guidelines are shared and implemented across MOG in a timely manner
• Manage, with other chief discipline engineers, a MOG technical authority system
• Work with HR and operating organizations on how to attract, develop, reward and deploy process engineering staff across MOG
• Identify discipline training requirements and development options
• Foster cross-fertilisation and workflow integration between the various surface and sub-surface disciplines
• Identify the key technologies and applications thereof MOG will require in the future, and support their development and implementation
• Set up and maintain, with other disciplines and IT, the (shared) data, information and Knowledge Management systems to support the core technical workflows and discipline communities

Project Responsibilities:
• Work on specific projects on maturing the engineering concept from field development plans into project specifications, contracts etc.
• Coordinate the development the overall process safety philosophy for new facility designs in cooperation with other disciplines
• Support projects during project execution with discipline reviews, troubleshooting, HAZOP, audits etc.
• Support production and project during the handover and start-up phases
• Support production with troubleshooting, studies etc.

Skills required for Chief Process Engineer - Global Engineering and Projects

Qualifications and Profile of Candidate:
• MSc or PhD in chemical engineering with 15+ years of up to date process engineering experience from upstream oil and gas experience including significant offshore experience
• Demonstrated strong process safety leadership
• Competent in interdisciplinary team work for the front-end, design, project and production phases
• Demonstrated experience and interest in the development and mentoring of (specialist) staff
• A broad understanding of the EP business, preferably from 2 or more regions
• Interest in novel/innovative technology development and implementation
• Ability to effectively represent MOG externally at industry conferences etc.
• Good communication and social skills, effective across a broad spectrum of nationalities and cultures
