Description of GM Logistics & Administration |
An Oil & Gas Company in Nigeria is currently recruiting a GM Logistics & Administration. Objective: • To manage logistics and administration processes of the Group towards improving individual and company productivity. • To transform the Logistics & Administrative department to a profit center. Responsibilities: • Set carefully prioritized objectives of the department for each financial year, and direct units to develop supporting work plans. • Oversee the various areas of work to ensure that effective support is delivered to all departments and companies in accordance with overall business priorities. • Ensure appropriate mechanisms are in place that enable the department to respond effectively (within resource limitations) to the requirements of the Group • Manage and monitor operations of the Department and ensure effective management of resources for the Group. • Monitor and ensure effective utilization of the operational budget in conjunction with the Finance Division. • Manage all staff and related matters to provide a friendly, cordial and a motivated environment to work. • Promote dialogue and interaction within the department and among other departments/companies. • Promote multi-tasking and delegation of work to the mid-level and junior staff to maximize Department’s effectiveness and to develop individual skills. • Ensure ISO 9001-2000 compliance in the Department and look at areas and issues that could be improved further to maintain and enhance ISO 9001-2000 compliance. • Ensure high quality of outputs of the Department (Travels, Logistics, Procurement, Inventory Management and other Administrative duties). • In alignment with management with the support of Human Resource, trains and mentors all direct reports to ensure skill levels support organizational initiatives. |

Skills required for GM Logistics & Administration |
• A good B.Sc. degree in one of the following disciplines: Business Management, International Relations, Public Policy, Public Administration or any professional degree in Accounting or Engineering. • An MBA will be an added advantage • Minimum of 10 years work experience in logistics or within and Administrative function. • Excellent communication and counseling skills with demonstrated ability to share knowledge. • Strategic, analytical and tactical abilities • Ability to manage change in a busy environment • A practical, logical and systematic approach • Creative problem-solving and analytical skills • Strong leadership and teamwork skills • Close attention to detail and the ability to sort and sift facts, noting inconsistencies. • Knowledge of Oracle is an advantage |
