Position: Total Gas and Power is commercialising the non-committed gas and power production of the upstream counterparts, supplies the gas and power marketing counterparts, and takes speculative positions on the gas and power markets, both in Europe and the United States. Our aim is to maximise the potential of our business through offering innovative products, high quality customer service and competitive pricing. The Trading and Marketing division is looking for a Meteorologist who will work within the Research team. The main responsibilities are to: • Conduct research and prepare meteorological analyses for use by Trading & Marketing personnel in Gas & Power • Construct and maintain climatological and other databases for the natural gas, power and C02 trading and marketing strategies and operations • Support the management of Total Gas & Power activities by producing meteorological researches and forecasts. • Forecast: by studying meteorology data, using and creating computer models to make short and long-term weather forecasts and supplying information to Trading & Marketing personnel in the form of weather briefings. • Research: by studying air flow, clouds and precipitation, and global climate change; studying causes, such as pollution or emissions, and their effects on weather patterns. The keys results are: • The timely dissemination of meteorological and market analyses and data to the Company and other interested Gas & Power and Group personnel. • To create value innovative ideas and thorough awareness of energy trading opportunities. • To work closely with other team to design forecast model on weather conditions and temperatures. |

Skills required for Meteorologist F/M |
Education: • Candidates must be University educated to at least master's degree level in environmental sciences or other relevant fields of science. Experience: • Candidates will have a least three years experience in meteorological research, analysis and modelling for energy trading operations. Skills: • Candidates will have in-depth understanding of the energy industry, commodity, financial trading and risk management. • They must be good at physics and applied math, including statistics and able to understand, evaluate and code complex data. • They must be able to explain complex issues and present them in a clear and neat manner. |
