Description of Reservoir Engineer

Reports To:
Project Management, Services and Technical Leads

General Description of Position’s Responsibilities:
• Understanding and evaluating oil and gas reservoirs using the Object Reservoir’s proprietary Resolve software.
• Modeling the reservoir to understand the petrophysics and completion characteristics in order to enhance future production.
• Incorporates best practices for future recovery of sub surface oil and gas; rigorous methodology starting with geology, analysis or reservoir phenomena and modeling the reservoir for further studies.
• Finally, performing sensitivity studies to capitalize on optimum recovery that is influenced by certain parameters and developing reporting and documenting result procedures.

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Estimate the potential of an oil/gas reservoir in order to determine its potential and likely investment required for enhancing the production in the future.
• Identify the best stimulation methodology for the fluid flow (building and running reservoir models that simulate fluid flow through the field over time).
• Analyze the fluid properties to predict fluid behavior and various physical effects.
• Identify in-fill well locations to enhance the recovery faster.
• Identify the best possible enhanced recovery procedures and also to provide economic evaluation of various aspects of commercial potential.
• Work closely with operational staff and with other technical professionals, such as geologists, geophysicists and petro-physicists, to understand the reservoir better.
• Facilitate and/attend weekly meetings within the group as well as once a month review with the client; May also include visits to the field locations and client site to carry out the project better.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Skilled in reporting, well planning, reservoir fluid knowledge, reservoir simulation, understanding various completion strategies, production allocation and forecasting, artificial lifting and alternate production strategies, optimization, evaluation of reservoir performance and reservoir management.
• Perform reservoir simulation studies using reservoir models to review/optimize the current field development plan with the objective to improve performance and recovery both on short term and long term.
• Ability to remain poised and professional while performing duties under stressful situations.
• Willing to travel to client meetings.

Skills required for Reservoir Engineer

• Masters of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering or related Engineering disciplines preferred.

Minimum Experience Required:
• 3-5 years of direct experience in petroleum or reservoir engineering. Experience with simulation tools preferred.

Skills Needed:
• Knowledge in reservoir engineering including characterization, analysis and optimization of petroleum recovery projects, petrophysical property analysis, well test analysis and fluid property characterization.
• Ability to solve well and reservoir modeling problems in innovative and unconventional ways.
• Good communication and leadership skills.
