Description of Senior Contracts/ Procurement Specialist	Santos is a major Australian oil and gas exploration and production company with interests and operations in every major Australian petroleum province and in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, India, Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan and Egypt. We are Australia's largest domestic gas producer, supplying sales gas to all mainland Australian states and territories, ethane to Sydney, and oil and liquids to domestic and international customers. Reporting to the Procurement Manager – P&L team DEAWANT (Drilling, Exploration, Asia, WA & NT) your main focus is to apply procurement & logistics expertise to securing goods and services in order to minimise total cost of ownership and build measurable value and competitive advantage for Santos while optimising operational flexibility and contractual integrity. Key Accountabilities: • Identify and respond to the procurement and logistics needs of the business, in conjunction with key internal stakeholders and develop strategies and apply commercial acumen to developing and managing Contracts. • Develop category management strategies and efforts that coordinate procurement (purchasing, contracting and inventory management) across the business. • Execute contracting strategies with a view to delivering the most economically advantageous solutions that meet the overall requirements of Santos. • Build and maintain strategic relationships, and contribute to managing the performance of key Suppliers to Santos within allocated categories. • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key internal stakeholders within allocated categories. • Provide day to day mentoring to junior team members. • Minimise injuries and environmental incidents within the Contracts managed by the Analyst in line with Santos Ltd policies and objectives. • Implement those responsibilities stated under the Santos Environment, Health and Safety Management System Standard - Management of Contractors and Suppliers. • Understand, communicate and operate with the Santos Delegation of Authority and related policies and procedures. • Assist in the management of Santos’ risk exposure with allocated categories.
Skills required for Senior Contracts/ Procurement Specialist	Required Qualifications & Skills: • Tertiary qualifications in commercial, business, management or engineering disciplines. • Contract management • Risk management • Planning and co-ordinating strategic procurement • Strong Negotiation skills • Influencing/consensus building and promoting new concepts • Awareness of ‘international’ or PSC procurement environments desirable You will already have a proven track record in a Senior Procurement/ Contracting and commercial management role within the Oil & Gas industry. You will need strong project management capability and be able to work autonomously. The successful candidate will require strong influencing and negotiation skills. Ideally you will have prior experience in supply chain activities supporting Drilling and Petroleum Engineering operations, travel will be required.
