Description of Senior Inspection Engineer |
Purpose: • To manage, supervise and direct the inspection activities to meet plant integrity and reliability requirements for safe and continued operation. Background: • The Senior Inspection Engineer reports to the Inspection Section Head. • Handles contractors ranging from highly specialized to labors, depending on relevant inspection tasks, during Major Maintenance and/or Extraordinary Maintenance projects or other specific activities. • Prepares and performs inspection activities based on Risk Based Inspection (RBI) methodology to enhance continuous Plants Integrity and Reliability in order to optimize inspection frequencies, maintenance cost and Plants Availability. Main Accountabilities: • To supervise all on-stream and shutdown inspection activities for stationary equipment, piping systems, pressure relieving devices and structures, by assessing deterioration mechanisms, corrosion monitoring and investigation of failures. • To authorize the line-up of piping, vessels and equipment to the plants systems during the absence of the Inspection Section Head. • To identify equipment areas of concern and prepare dedicated inspection procedures to follow-up their resolution for improvement of Plant Integrity. • To prepare data to implement and update the Risk Based Inspection (RBI) methodology to enhance Plant Integrity and Reliability, in order to optimize inspection frequencies, maintenance cost and plant availability. • To compile/provide input for preparation of division/department Capital, Operating and 5 Year Plan budgets, and monitor/control expenditure. • To implements the HSE Management System, Maintenance and Inspection Policies and Procedures in cooperation with Inspection Section Head. • Advise on repair techniques, materials selection, welding procedures, inspection/testing requirements, and participate in plant modifications (PCR’s) and projects in cooperation with Inspection Section Head. • To comply with all company Health, Safety and Environment as well as Work Permit, policies and procedures • To provide On Job Training to meet Competency Based Training programs for UAE Nationalization. Main Challenges: • To maintain the plant integrity, availability and reliability, bearing in mind the age and obsolescence of much of the equipment. |

Skills required for Senior Inspection Engineer |
Minimum Requirements: • A Mechanical Engineer with minimum of 6 to 8 years in mechanical/inspection organization in the oil & gas industry. • Knowledge level of inspection procedures, inspection techniques as well as inspection management systems such as RBI and IDMS. • Experience in leadership of a small inspection organization assisting him in becoming a leader for a team involved in the expertise of Paint/Insulation, RBI, IDMS and Cathodic Protection. In total 8 inspection employees. Will be acting Inspection Section Head during his absence. • High level of proficiency in English. • A team worker. Additional Requirements: • Fluent in Microsoft Windows applications, good communication and management skills. |
