Description of Senior Planning Engineer |
• Develop and ensure structured, consistent and accurate project planning, scheduling and reporting for the development of a surface facilities and pipeline project as per OMV standards and Guidelines. • Preparation of an integrated Project Schedule (control schedule) to enable the identification of key activities in all areas, the overall duration of the project and critical work sequences. • Develop and ensure compliance with the work breakdown coding structure. • Review and endorse contractors’ schedules and progress reporting systems to facilitate efficient summarization of project reporting. • Oversee the planning elements of the change control procedure with capture of said changes within the project planning package. • Update Integrated Project Schedule on a monthly basis for reporting progress. • Ensure that timing of deliverables to contractor are adequately defined and subsequently tracked to avoid any delay or disruption to contractor activities. • Reviewing contractors execution plans and schedules for achieving the agreed strategies and Project Milestones, highlight concerns and possible mitigations • Developing and maintaining the overall project progress reporting system. • Review contractors reporting to verify accuracy and highlight concerns. • Participate in regular risk reviews with contractors and key team members and maintain the risk registers • Co-ordinate activities and ensure overall alignment on project priorities and interests. • Encourage improvement activities within the project. Develop proposals & strategies for discussion and agreement with Project Management. • Make recommendations to Project Services Manager in relation to any specialist input that may be required. • Provide coaching and mentoring to develop team members. |

Skills required for Senior Planning Engineer |
• University graduate in Engineering disciplines • Minimum 15 years experience as a planning engineer within the oil and gas industry. • Excellent managerial and leadership skills • Technical professional with experience with knowledge of project controls functions and proven record in the provision of planning and scheduling services for world-wide projects for a major oil and gas operator. • Able to demonstrate a good knowledge of business awareness, key project performance drivers and of financial and commercial aspects of project delivery. • Experience of different contracting methods for project execution including EPCM. • Hands-on experience with full capability in the use of project control systems and procedures supported by current software applications • MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS project, Primavera P3 etc. • Fluent in English, knowledge of Arabic will be an added advantage |
