Description of Specialist (Basin Analysis) |
PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (Carigali) is a wholly owned Exploration and Production (E&P) subsidiary of PETRONAS, the national oil company of Malaysia. Carigali is actively expanding beyond the shores of Malaysia towards attaining its vision to be A Multinational Exploration and Production ( E&P ) Company of Choice Creating Value through Continuous Improvement and Growth. Currently, Carigali has expanded from domestic E&P company into a full-fledged international organization with interest in 25 countries mainly in South East Asia, Africa, Central Asia and Middle East. Job Description: • Be a self-starter and able to carry out technical analysis independently, utilizing both in-house and public domain data. • Follow a 'bottom-ups' approach to basin analysis, i.e. evaluating basement geology, tectonic history, integrating remote sensing data and surface geology, establishing a sequence stratigraphic framework, interpreting regional-scale seismic data, correlating wells and constructing regional cross-sections, which together lead to structure, facies, maturity and petroleum fairway maps. • Generate petroleum system charts, prospects and lead maps and assess petroleum resources and risk. • Identify and recommend global exploration opportunities based on a rigorous understanding of petroleum systems and prospectivity analysis. • Share expertise with other Carigali staff through participation at technical meetings, mentoring and training. |

Skills required for Specialist (Basin Analysis) |
Qualifications • Degree / M. Sc / Ph. D in Geosciences (Geology & Geophysics) Experience and skills required • 10 to 20 years of experience in oil and gas industry. • Must have skills and practical working knowledge of both geology and geophysics. • Have performed independent regional studies integrating all geophysical (seismic and non-seismic) and geological data to generate a petroleum systems framework. • Recent hands-on expertise in petroleum basin analysis and experience in a wide range of basin settings. • Experienced in a regional synthesis team. |
