Description of Specialist (Basin Modeling) |
PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (Carigali) is a wholly owned Exploration and Production (E&P) subsidiary of PETRONAS, the national oil company of Malaysia. Carigali is actively expanding beyond the shores of Malaysia towards attaining its vision to be A Multinational Exploration and Production ( E&P ) Company of Choice Creating Value through Continuous Improvement and Growth. Currently, Carigali has expanded from domestic E&P company into a full-fledged international organization with interest in 25 countries mainly in South East Asia, Africa, Central Asia and Middle East. Job Description: • Work in close interaction with exploration evaluation teams from around the world, including both frontier and mature sedimentary basins. • Contribute your specialist knowledge to global basin analysis studies. • Provide basin Modeling support that will help identify and recommend global exploration opportunities based on a rigorous petroleum systems and prospectivity / risk analysis. • Define pacing technology requirements basin Modeling technology and develop appropriate novel technology for long term company’s business needs. • Promote the application of new technology basin Modeling technology in the company to achieve reserve targets. • Develop and train staff to undertake basin Modeling technology to ensure that the company is adequately staffed with competent explorationists/geoscientists. • Initiate and drive the development and application of petroleum geology for an effective acreage acquisition & block/prospect evaluation and operations. |

Skills required for Specialist (Basin Modeling) |
Qualifications: • Degree / M. Sc / Ph. D in Geosciences (Geology & Geophysics) Experience and skills required: • 10 - 20 years experience in the oil and gas industry. Worldwide experience must involved basin Modeling studies in various tectonic environments, ranging in scale from basin-scale evaluations down to individual prospect and lead assessments. • Experienced in sequence stratigraphy, depositional systems, structural geology and seismic interpretation and have skills and practical working knowledge of both geologist and geochemist. • Able to demonstrate a proven record in developing new concepts or ideas which have contributed to the basin modeling fraternity. |
